Going to the lower Pecos river next year and last time we were in canoes they definitely got some oyster rash on the old town 147s. So this time we're going in kayaks and was curious, Has anyone ever put an old town skid plate on their kayak before and if so , did it effect the tracking of your yak and is it worth it? Does any one have any other ideas to prevent any damage to my kayak?

Amazon, and others I'm sure, sells a keel guard (http://www.amazon.com/Kayak-Keel-Guard- ... keel+guard) for kayaks. It won't help the rest of the hull, though.
I'm looking at this to help protect mine from boat ramps.
