Been close to 10 years!! Need advise.

Been a long time since I have been fishing. Started working for a kayak tour company and it takes up most of my free time.
Now have a motorized canoe that can get to a few places. We use it to look for log jams on the bayous in Houston after floods. We now included fishing out of it on our days off!

Will be coming from Houston on Mondays and our first trip was way to windy but this didn't stop us from exploring San Louis Pass area. We launched from the county park and headed to Ernie's (what's left of it) but once in Christmas Bay was hit with 2 foot swells so started looking for leeward shore lines. Ended up on Mud Island fishing the 11 foot drop off the bank. So much has changed, I have no clue where to fish the area anymore.

Any advise?
