N. levee road heating up

Post by bing »

went to n. levee armed with a pint of live shrimp .. popping cork. everyone i knew that fished was there.
hit a honey hole and the trouts were on it like gangbusters .. all under 15"
must have hooked a dozen .. switch over to corky pink, nada., swimming image, nada
back to shrimp and the float would dive after 2-3 pops. played with them a while until i ran out of shrimp .. managed 4 barely keepers (15-16 in)for dinner

note: they are back into a similar pattern so if u caught them there last year .. they are there now.
cant wait til the big ones show up .. schoolies were more fun than skunk any day

I saw one of those gar guys out there last time I went - he had a 6 foot gar in the road he was cutting up, and he still had about 5 lines in the water, with the plastic bag tied on the line right next to the tip, the way they fish for gar. :(

Looks like we will fish the north levee in the morning. Colburn mentioned the bank fisherman were catching fish.
It will be a late start, but better than not at all.

We went. Late start and got hammered by the east wind. Before the rain I was doing good to make a 30 foot cast into that wind. No bites and will try again.
