Sunburn ankles! Socks?

I wear a water shoe that drains and dries fast. On the kayak my ankles are exposed below my fishing pants. I’d like to get a pair of socks but not sure which is best. Waterproof socks seem like they would get hot and sweaty. Anyone wearing a sock that drains, dries, and protects ankles from sun? Any recommendations? Thanks!

I went a slightly different direction. I bought a pair of the cooling sleeves that I wear like socks. Covers from mid foot to over my calf, and the slightest breeze makes it cool.
No more of my wife asking why my ankles are dirty...

Lycra scuba socks - they also keep the sand from the soles of your feet.

I wear polyester long socks from Columbia (the outdoors brand). They dry super fast and aren't hot like you'd think In the summer.
I've not burned through them, guess they are thick enough.
I typically wear quick dry shoes to or just take my shoes off if I'm not planning to get in the water.

Assuming i'm not walking/wading, the thin hiking liner socks work well for me to keep my ankles from getting sunburned.

This is what I do going offshore. Super cool and quick drying.
