Hey Blake,

I meant to tell you last year, your link to the Delaware paddle sports bag no longer works, and when I went searching for it last year it seemed they discontinued it.
https://www.delawarepaddlesports.com/de ... bag-large/

Do you have any other ideas?

I think June 5th is the only weekend I can make it till August, so hopefully we get to go early!
I'm out of shape this go around though so I think I'll only be able to make it to rig and back :(

Chubs here's a few options ranked in price. These are not the same style bags as the DPS where they can sit on the bow of your kayak. These are more design for the rear tank well or sitting across the kayak behind your seat. I personally prefer this style of bag.

Economy bag- https://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-Gear-Ins ... 348&sr=8-5

Middle of the road- https://www.amazon.com/Boone-00006-Mons ... ods&sr=1-3

High end- https://www.amazon.com/Opah-Fathom-Fish ... 719&sr=8-1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JR ... th=1&psc=1

Personally I don't think there's much difference between the Buffalo and the Boone bags.

Also if you add a couple of frozen 1/2 gallon milk jugs (with a mixture of water and rock salt) under the bag of ice that will help the ice keep longer.

I found out that it's not that they discontinued the bag. The company that makes the bag for them is struggling due to COVID. Until that company gets back on track, DPS will not be able to offer that bag. However, for people that are looking for fish bags, I recommend the Reliable fish bag or even the Hobie bag. It's more expensive but in this day of age, we can't be picky. A decent bag is still hard to come by.

Arlo I didn't include that bag one because it's too small for BTB and two I didn't care for it. I ordered it and ended up sending it back. It keeps ice ok if you use the liner and roll the liner up as shown in one of the picks on Amazon. In reality it's a pain to me anyway to go through that process on a kayak. We have a Ice Mule bag that works the same way and never use it for that reason.

You might look at it when it arrives. It may work for you. I'm just not a fan of having to roll up the bag so it will seal. Also when you roll it up you lose some of the volume so the 20" long bag is really more like 17".

Unfortunately I made to the call to cancel my campground reservation based on current weather predictions. Really don’t want to pull my camper 8 hours if it doesn’t look like we will go out. Going to camp around Texoma instead and hunt for some strippers. I will make it down there one of these day to go BTB with this awesome group. Hope it still works out I just don’t want to take the chance with reservations.

I totally understand. I hope you got into some stripers this past weekend. PM me your contact info and let's hit some stripers sometimes. I fish both fresh and salt. :)

Does anyone have a bait shop recommendation in the San Antonio area for getting ribbonfish? Or a bait shop open before 6 am in corpus? I'm heading down early saturday morning, to be there about 5:30 am.

I recommend calling your local Asian marts/grocery stores. They usually have them but it will cost more.

Question about the launch spot, do we need a beach pass just to park at the spot we will be launching for the day?

Last year we did but it was a different launch spot.

I'm going to Matagorda Saturday to drop off the camper, will see if they have ribbons.

I was told in years past that since we are going to be south of beach access 6 that we didn't need a beach pass but I always get one just in case.

I went and looked it up.
Seems it's free parking between Bob Hall UNTIL Access road 6. After Access road 6 to PINS is permit required.
So if I'm interpreting this all correctly, it's actually free NORTH of access road 6, not south.
