High Island

Post by mrkm1010 »

Is anyone thinking about going to Slabs on Wednesday or Friday? I can't seem to get 2 days off in a row. I'd be interested in meeting up weather permitting. Wondering how Ida may have affected the fishing.

My drainpan on my ac rusted through and of course condenser froze up. Going to have to see if I can get it fixed tomorrow. What time does Sea Pony open? If I get it fixed I'll be there after I get some muet. Best I can do is to post up tomorrow afternoon.

Sorry, I don't have messenger. I get hacked every time I get the app. Best I can do is post up here. I'll probably want to go to Slabs. Been a pretty hot spot lately from some very reliable resources.

No sticker needed and we have 2wd vehicles also.

Best thing is to park by road first and plot your path. Most times sand is packed but you don't want to get stuck needlessly.

Allright, got my ac fixed. I'm going to be at Sea Pony when they open at 6...then headed to Slabs. If anyone needs an extra yak I'm bringing 2. Hope someone else shows up.

Went by Slabs this morning about 7am. Looked like the concrete barriers go past Slabs. The soft shell sand doesn't look like a great place to park. Nobody there so I went to Sabine Lake and had an amazing day catching some nic slots.

On most tides the slabs can't be seen. Fishing is about the same anywhere from there to Rollover.

Sounds like you had a great day.

Is there a baracade in front if Slabs now? It was high tide, not much beach to park on.

No, the slabs are a bit farther down.

Where did you find fish in Lake Sabine? Bait or artificials?

Had a few live shrimp under a popping cork and when I ran out switched to white curly tailed Gulp. Fished Kieth Lake.

We were there and waited for almost an hour before launching.

The fish waited for us though, sharks and reds and ran out of bait before noon.
