While on Spring Break in the Florida Panhandle, I brought my Hobie Outback and gear with me and kayak fished for two days. I
launched into Choctowatchee Bay at a place called Cessna Landing, a nice ramp, park, and launch location where all the local guides met their clients each morning. Both days I fished some shallow grass flats trolling a Down South inch on a jighead, threw some Super Spook Jr. in bone, and a Lele. I caught a 31-inch red who bit my topwater as I slowly trolled it behind me while moving to another area, and two keeper trout on the Down South.
The second day, I saw many schools of bruiser reds patrolling the shallow shorelines - all upper slot to bull size with 5-12 fish in each school, but too much sun glare and a little chop on the water made it difficult to see them until I was right on them, so I kept spooking them. But even still, I always enjoy exploring a new fishery.
If you have never been to the beaches of the Destin-Panama City area, you should go. Beautiful. 10-hour drive from here.

Great photos and pretty good haul for self-guiding far away from home water.
Thanks for the report.

Thanks for sharing the Florida fishing experience with us, Shoffer. I hear the fishing there is so good that some anglers regard Speckled Trout as a "trash fish," lol.
