Ahem - have you seen the water temps?

Post by Prof. Salt »

Gulf temps are now sitting at 82 in the Corpus area, which means all we lack is a drop in the winds to allow us to head offshore. Get your gear primed, because when the winds lay down the gulf should be ready to deliver some good fish!

In the mean time, I'm keeping in shape by paddling in the wind. Who knows, there may not be many chances to get out, and I want to be sure I'm set when conditions are right.

I've been waiting to see a fishing report. My goal is to get my 72 year old mom out of Oklahoma and in Gulf for her first King Mackerel. Should prove entertaining. lol

I've always heard that it is water temp not the calendar that determines when the fish arrive (kingfish i guess). So does this mean that they are here, or soon to be here. Honestly, I just wait to see a fishing report from the professor, then I know it's time.

I’ve been hearing from some of the powerboat guys that kings, jacks and cobia are indeed at the rigs we target. The wind is our issue now, and I’m beginning to get impatient.
