Kayak Fishing Group

Hey Guys, I’m new to the forum. Ive been reading all the good advice that everyone has written in the past. I have two tandem kayaks rigged for fishing hat myself and my two sons use. One boy is grown the other is 13. We have always fished the bay. We were wanting to see if we could get some input on a group we might could go out with. Even though I’ve been fishing bay for years we’ve never gone further than 1/2 mile out in the surf. Thanks in advance for the advice.

To be clear are you talking about taking the tandem kayaks offshore?

Where are you located? My 14 yr old has been kayak fishing with me since he was about 6. He now captains his own Hobie Outback and loves catching reds in Galveston and has done 2 BTB outings in Corpus. If you want to go BTB in the tandem, pick a good flat day and take lots of water. My son and his friend were going to do a BTB tandem trip before I got him the Hobie. I think it can be done if the kids are experienced and chaperoned by another BTB yakker. Be sure to wear the PFDs and have a marine radio.
