Aside from wearing out the connection piece on some expensive paddles (I've worn out three Werner carbon paddles over the years), there doesn't seem to be a downside.

I have also been the recipient of a few "lemons" in life and we have to learn how to live with whatever issues come. I was lucky to overcome the nerve damage to my left arm that almost kept me off the water.
