Help Needed: Wiring Electric Motor & Fish Finder + LED & Nav Lights

Post by Halen »

I am in the process of ordering the parts to wire up the following:

Electric motor setup:
  • Newport Kayak Motor NK180
  • Amped Outdoors 24V 80AH Battery (LiFePO4)

Fish finder:
  • Lowrance HDS Live 7
  • Amped Outdoors 20Ah Lithium Battery (LiFePO4)
  • Battery enclosure
The NK180 comes with a digital speed controller that monitors the battery, so I don't think I need an additional meter for this. Should I add a circuit breaker and quick connects to this setup?

Debating if it's necessary to get a meter for the fish finder but felt this might be a bit of overkill.

I would also like to add some LED and nav lights for dawn/dusk fishing, which battery should this be connected to and what would I need? I appreciate any and all input on the above.

Couple of clarifications about your batteries.

You selected a 20Ah battery for your TM and 80 Ah battery for the fish finder?

Is your Lowrance really going to need a 24V battery?

I cut and pasted into the wrong area, the fish finder is 12v and the motor is 24v. (corrected now)
