Louisiana wintertime fishing is in full swing.
It only took an hour to catch my limit of trout this evening.
I was using H&H baby bull minnows under a 4 Horseman popping cork. The trick is to find the deep holes (10 ft or more) and fish the shallow flats surrounding them.
The cold weather really stacks the specks up.

Never fished in Louisiana. What are their generous limits and size restrictions these days? Takes literally about five minutes to get a three fish limit in Texas, lol, if the trout get stacked, that is if there are any over 15” or under 20”. I’ve had some good trout catching trips this fall, but the majority of fish fell outside the narrow Texas slot, way more unders than overs, lots of 14” fish.
I tend to tell myself why travel a relatively long distance to catch the basically the same fish as are available 20 minutes from home, but then I had a great time in November fishing two days down around Rockport and Corpus. Maybe I should go east and try Louisiana fishing.

We actually lowered the limits from 25 trout to 15 trout. We bumped the min size up to 13" and you can only keep two over 20"
I caught my limits on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It took me 37 minutes on Sunday...........
Four Horseman Cork with a H&H Baby Bull Minnow. 1/8 oz jig head.
