DFW Area Info

Post by double dip »

Lots of kayak stuff available here, maybe we can get it all on one page and make it a sticky on the DFW forum. Yaqui can help us with that if we get info.

Here's some I know about:

http://www.kayakpower.com/ -- Rentals, Trips, and Instruction

http://www.down-river.com/ -- Trips and DFW Club

http://www.kayakpower.com/LLELA07.html Lake Lewisville Paddle and Cleanup - Good way to check out the Trinity below Lake Lewisville.

http://gtbc.com/ -- Membership only fishing tanks/lakes throughout the state. Like joining a golf club. Double Dip is a member. PM him for questions

Thanks for this particular forum. I live 5 miles from Texoma and have family on the coast so I get the fresh and salt fix on...not often enough however!

Hey guys, I am only in Dallas during the school year, but am finally working my schedule around to get back on the water. I will confess I generally spend my time on the freshwater forum, but as members of the DFW area I believe it is our responsibility to promote the welfare of our natural areas by moving the knowledge on this side of the site a little faster. For consistency I propose that all titles of reports are Labeled with Dates & Names of Locations. If the location is special or even top secret, then by all means Label it Honey Hole. I propose this idea because I believe the incentive of quick and easy to read or view, for all yall covert photographers with cameras, information is what drives people to continue looking in this section. Therefore we should try to get as many trip reports as reports with questions to appease the curiosity and that is how I believe we can start attracting more attention to our page, so that the collective knowledge base of this side of the site can grow quickly enough to appease our insatiable curiosity for wet and sloppy fish facts and the associated small talk.

It is I Jake - And I would love any feedback or constructive criticism.

I love it! Great idea! And so idealistic!
I think we live in a time of "Lurkerism" when it comes to most all message boards. I think it may be the economy. Perhaps more people than ever are reading, and not going? Whatever the reason, it's endemic to discussion boards such as Texas Fishing Forum, and I also have that problem on Texas Fly Reports and Texas Fly Caster. Lots of readers and few talkers. For example, there are typically 50-100 people looking at TFF's "Fly Fishing" section, yet the posts are stale - maybe 1 or 2 that day! I used to suspect the numbers showing on the site, but it's the same everywhere.

So many people are working harder than ever, so that has to be part of it as well. You as a student, and me as a perpetually underemployed artist, have time to consider these things, and make suggestions that no one seems to have any opinion on.

These words are so true. I've worked 36 hours in the last 3 days. Doesnt leave much time for reading the forum or anything else. Sometimes I think my priorities are a bit off, guess I never learned to relax when I was younger.
