Went looking for stripers, put in at Grandpappy ramp and paddled out to rocky point and did a couple of drifts. No good there so I decided to row. The wind was SSE and pretty good chop. Went across to the dam and picked up a couple of small ones at Burns Run. Went on to the dam and piddled around for about 30 min then headed back to Rocky Point. I was quite the row down wind. Drifted Rocky Point a couple times more and then headed home. The topwater action is hard to find. The lake temp is 79-80 and still not very clear.

Earl, shoot me an email if you want... I know a spot where they are easy pick'n if you want. 10-15lb fish on pencil poppers!!! I eneded up with 47 and largest fish was around 30lbs??? I'm guessing, but on 1lb diameter / 6lb test line!!! It was a HOOT! I knew I had on the monster striper after it made a run of about 100 yards it turned around which was luck because I told my friend I didn't think I'd get this one in on the lighter gear I had. It made 2 big splashes in the dark and then turned towards me, confirming it was a monsters striper in my head! My line was running everywhere and ended up with 3 pencil popper fishermen tangled in my line, 2 of them amazingly go untangled and I had one shot at the fish before it was back in the current... I was lucky I managed to get it in the rocks.... Well BIG fish, but the striper had grown a long nose from all the stories it was telling I guess Ended up being a spoon bill that had run across my small jig head and got snagged in the gill plate. Nice fish, though but not a monster for a spoonbill. The big stripers are hitting though on topwater and jerk baits.
