Favorite Topwater Baits

Post by Vlaude »

Curious, after fishing a bit last night (topwater only) what people's favorite topwater baits are... I love fishing topwater, sometimes its as much fun watching the fish blow up on the bait as it is reeling it in! Had a good number of blow ups last night that came unbuttoned. FUN FUN FUN!

I like a Chug Bug first and second a Pop R. I have a couple of big Zara Spooks I used to use on river stripers above Whitney and some on schooling bass but I still prefer smaller top water baits.

I prefer spooks.

If I don't catch anything walking the dog then I move on to a pop-r. There are a few exceptions to this, one being striper. They seem to prefer the pop sound.

One reason I like a spook, is because I can throw it out of sight. The other is, they are big. I definately belive in Big Fish, Big Bait.

I like the skitter walk and the spit'n image. Similar baits but the spit'n image is a little smaller.

Oh, by the way. I went to Academy at lunch today. They have the Twitchin rap on sale for 2.28 (I think). Normally sells for around $6. I bought a few of them. Does anybody have any experience fishing this lure?
