Re: Anyone using a solo skiff for BTB fishing?

Absolutely. Love my Solo for BTB. Pretty much the same gear requirements as your yak. Normally I'll just take a trolling motor for power. Lot's of fun, very stable and comfortable. Search Vimeo for a couple of videos in HD. Forever Fishing Solo Skiff.

Good luck.

Re: hobbie outback?

I've fished Estes flats in an Outback , Revo, Adventure and a Solo Skiff.

The skiff is by far the most comfortable, effective way to fish/drift those huge flats. Found the hull slap of the Outback to be it's biggest drawback. Revo and Adventures are not effective standup yaks.

Hope this helps.

Re: Crabbing from a kayak

Chicken leg on a rope, long handled net, a bucket to put them in and DON'T drop them in your lap.

Caught many blues in the marsh. It's easy and fun. Never tried it in the winter.

Re: Galveston causeway night fishing

They are there but you need to be bumping the bottom. Yes you will break off a bunch if want to catch them and that gets old quick. 3 years ago I would go through 3 packs of jig heads a night for a few flounder and reds. You can also move out towards some of the reefs and fish those edges as well. S...

Re: Sea Rim BTB - Friday 7th

Thanks for the history. I love learning the history of the places we fish. It sometimes helps me find fish, especially when it has to do with old rigs and structure underwater. Does anyone know if there are posts or a gate blocking vehicle travel from eastern Sea Rim State Park heading east towards...

Re: Any big guys fish out of a revo?

The only issue with an Outback is hull slap. If that's not a problem for you then that will do the trick.

Good luck.

Re: Sea Rim 9/18 Report

Decided to run the Solo Skiff BTB and had a great day. After scouting Sea Rim State Park and trying the surf for trout (no luck) ended up launching at McFaddin Wildlife Refuge to flat seas and low wind. First time to BTB in this area and wow...it's a haul from the Cypress area! http://i1000.photobuc...

Topwater wordsmithing fails to leave a bewitched scent of skunk upon you. Unlike the hard bait.

Great report.

Re: Solo skiff fiberglass vs Solo Skiff Rotomolded

-if I may learn from the guys posting with solo skiffs; 1, if your engine shutdown, how would you describe paddling ease? Depending on conditions in can be pretty easy or a bit more challenging. I've paddled against a 17 mph wind about a mile with a limit of reds, trolling motor & battery and m...

Re: Technique for a SoftDine

Started throwing Softdines when they first came out and they produce bites when nothing else is working. They also don't produce bites when other lures are so it's a technique you have to try. Especially trout fishing I always have one tied on. I've pulled red fish & trout out from other anglers...

This is my second season with a ski. Love the offshore fishing and the comradery. Recently started fishing West Bay, Fayette County and Conroe all from the ski. Lot's of fun with quick access to many areas. I've learned everything I know about it from Face Book Texas Jet Ski Fishing. Check it out. G...

Re: Inflatable PFD

I own a couple of different inflatables including a Hobie & Oynx. I only wear them while in the marsh on the yak but never on the Solo Skiff or jet ski. They are comfortable while on/in the yak but not very comfortable when inflated and floating in the water. Never had any problems with screwing...

Good report on a lake that can be very challenging to catch numbers. Beautiful place to paddle.

My guess is they don't see very many spec rigs. Great call.
