Re: Finished a new painting!
Thanks milk! Yeah I'm a redfish guy without a doubt but my buddy who's a flounder nut and also paints would never let it down if I painted the eyes on the wrong side. Even more sac religious is when someone paints the red and white bars on the Texas flag upside down. I've seen that a couple times.

Re: 6wt bonefish line
Whatev. Just use a floating line if you're shallow enough for tailin fish. You can put the weight you need to get a fly down in the fly itself as opposed to limiting yourself by using a sinking line to do that. Makes no sense. Save the intermediate for something at minimum of 4' depth.

Re: Fly lines for thee surf!
I've never fished the surf with anything other than floating and never had a problem. As long as you pay attention to the surf reports and surf cams and fish only the flat surf days (why anyone would bother doing any different is beyond me) than you won't have any issues. But it's ok to have a backu...

Re: 6wt bonefish line
If you're fishing shallow enough for tailing reds you don't really need an intermediate line. I'd stick with the floating line and save the intermediate line for the surf or fishing channels 6' or deeper. Adding a simple bead chain, lead wire, or lead dumbell is all you need for the fly to get down ...

Re: Disco Shrimp
I've been tying a few versions myself along with other chugger types of shrimp. Mainly just at working on different color combos right now. Whenever the surf was flat last year (which wasn't enough), these flies straight up slayed the trout. Also great for coaxing reds out of grass or muddy water or...

everything is in great working order. reel has signs of use but mechanically is well taken care of. always left in original reel case, rinsed after every use, wiped down with light coat of oil and drag backed all the way off when put away. the spare is in brand new condition, bought 4-5 months ago, ...
