Re: Swivels on Spoons?
Speaking for myself, never use a swivel on a spoon fly, such as Dupree’s or Horbley’s. First, in my experience and when properly used the spoon fly if fished or retrieved excruciatingly slow so as to wobble back and forth. It only twists if fished too fast ( or through a strong current not the best ...

Re: Winter Trout Question
I think it's a fair question. I believe the most distinctive thing about Winter Trout fishing is that Specks are generally less aggressive and the take can be uncharacteristically subtle, so subtle that you can miss them, though they are still opportunistic with a good presentation. I recall slaying...

Great read over morning cup o Joe. LOL on the one-eyed Red... now I know too LOL.
Really great report. Thx for posting. I’ve been wondering how things will be changing, if at all, with Rollover sealed up in the upper coast.
Anyway, it looks like you were rewarded for the effort and perseverance.

Re: Reel Cleaning - Complete Breakdown
I’m curious what everyone’s after fishing reel ritual’s are like. I carry a couple milk jugs of fresh water on every outing which is used to drench reels, rod guides, or anything metal on my yak, knives, pliers, seat clips, etc. immediately before trip home. Then everything gets laid out and through...

Really enjoyable post. Well done. Congrats on your fishin’ buddy too. The cows pictured struck me as pretty funny. One or two of those pics could be captioned in innumerable ways from the Cow’s perspective.
Thanks for the pics too.

Re: Getting Some Surf Practice In
What KB said.
Tethering is more than a good idea since Boga Grips don’t float really well (or float away on a float too fast before you realize its gone). The worst part of turtle game, at least for me, is sand in my reels.

Re: One more video and I promise to stop for a few days...
Well done. Everybody wins. Makes good sense too. Seems like the PB guys would figure this stuff out; about cutting the engine. Any idea if a trolling motor using anchor lock would have a negative impact? I've been reading more and more PBs using that feature. I must confess that it might even be coo...

Re: Unbelievable
I file a float plan with at least two different people, carry a phone, gps and vhf, and most importantly I keep an eye on my surroundings at all times. Stuff happens, but if you let that keep you at home life is boring. I'd rather take precautions, train and get out there and enjoy what's available...

Re: Landbased shark fishing rigs
Above look like some good resources. I once hit the surf and a few T-heads like the old Texas City Dike and did well with 12 ft one piece surf rods with Penn Jigmaster reel casting “8 n Bait” meaning 8 oz spider weight with a good size mullet or 1/2 crab. This rig, spooled with 80lb braid and steel ...

Re: Artificial for Trolling
Oh, and don’t forget to splash those spinners with some fresh water at end of the day. Those contraptions generally don’t hold up well if left salty. And don’t be afraid to take a page out of the Bass fishing pros and tweak those spinners to get the movement and noise you’re after. Some pliers can s...

Re: Artificial for Trolling
I like to troll an Artie when moving a longer distances between spots too. The bait choice depends a little bit on the situation. Mostly factoring depth and water cleanliness. I’ve had the best luck with motion and noise so I like a choice of spinners with different blade sizes depending on paddle s...

Re: East Bay/Frozen Point - 11/17/18 morning
Sometimes we just have those days where the fish must be checking out the sales somewhere else. But, man o man those sunrise shots are the money in my book. I never get tired of em. I can guarantee that I (and a few thousand others ) would’ve gladly traded places with you! More to fishin’ than catch...
