[VIDEO] High Island Black Tip Shark

Post by tmfreak »

This is an old video I finally put together from last summer. It was one of the first few trips I took BTB solo and after many years of dormancy. This is pretty apparent when you see me fiddling and fumbling with my rods and I even forgot to pull the anchor up a few minutes into the fight.

I threw a pretty big mullet head on there and went to check on the rod and it was pretty heavy. The shark felt like a brick the first time I brought him in and I don't even think he knew he was hooked. Soon enough after I bring him close enough, he takes off running and I "land" it about 25-30 minutes later. Of course this is with plenty of tail slapping (thankfully it was my kayak and not my legs) and long sleigh riding that took me out an additional mile or so. Overall it was fun, especially catching the shark on a cheapo shakespeare reel (It literally blew up after this fight, now replaced by my trusty Penn Spinfisher V 6500). Thanks for watching!
