Open invite memorial day @ Dirty Pelican
It's been too long since we have seen saltwater so Kristin and I are camping at the Dirty Pelican. We plan on arriving friday afternoon and will most likely stay through Monday afternoon. Bbq (bringing the propane grill), bonfire (bringing lots of wood), story telling, BTB (it will not be ice cream conditions, but doable), surf fishing if possible and wading for trout.
Don't forget your $10 beach permit.
DIRECTIONS TO DIRTY PELICAN (DP)
approximately ~5 miles west of the 87 & 124 intersection...note:all the piers on Bolivar Peninsula no longer exist...

Re: Open invite memorial day @ Dirty Pelican
Sure would like to join but the wind/wave predictions are just a tad over or at my limit................and Tue. is predicted to be "flat".
Y'all have fun and I will watch the weather and if it changes I will try to make it.

Dawg, I was going to post a map in case YOU needed directions on how to get there again. Glad you beat me to it.
Re: Open invite memorial day @ Dirty Pelican
If those threes disappear from the forecast, I'll probably be there.
You know if they predict threes, it's probably going to be fours.
Update: I just looked and windguru is now showing 2 footers all day. If that holds, and the creek don't rise, I'll be there.

Funny you say that, I actually had to look at the maps to refresh my memory.northpaw wrote:Dawg, I was going to post a map in case YOU needed directions on how to get there again. Glad you beat me to it.
Update as of Thursday 24th 9:07 a.m: Appears the strong winds are making Friday and Saturday a washout...(great time to learn surf re-entry )...hopefully the window of opportunity will be Sunday/Monday...Wife and I still plan on camping in the wind with everything tied down.

Have fun all! We won't be able to make this one, but looking forward to hitting the sand very soon.
Re: Open invite memorial day @ Dirty Pelican
I'm still watching the forecasts and the conditions. If it looks favorable, I'll be there.

How is the sand out there do I need a 4wheel drive truck?
Re: Open invite memorial day @ Dirty Pelican
We had a guy in a Prius last week so I think it's 2wd drive friendly.

Re: Open invite memorial day @ Dirty Pelican
Nobody wanted to go out in the chop this morning, so I headed down to the North Jetti area since it is shallow and generally smooth. Even it was choppy but with not swells. I picked up two sharks by the ship wreck. Forgot my camera, but got a couple of pics of the first one before my phone got wetMythman wrote:I want to see fish pics!!!
Ended up paddling over to the cut (always forget how far it is) and drifted back. Nothing to show for it though.
