Re: New boat and ready to get back in the Salt.

Yep that was my first trip in the salt with it. Loved it. Covers so much more water than a kayak but just as quiet and stealthy. Nothin but a few croaker today but it was REALLY salty and tons of baitfish.

Back on the water with my Bote Rover

Been out of fishing for the past few years due to life (kids and work etc). But it’s all normalizing now so I’m glad to get to wet a line again. As I get older and rounder, paddle and pedal just are not for me so as with all things I’m looking for the best of all worlds. Now I love the intimacy and ...

Two types of specks. Locals and migrants. Locals are smaller and will stick around no matter. The sizable trout 3#+ Move with the temp and salt. They spend summer offshore and winter in the bay's.

Re: Texas Point 3-29

Have you tried to launch on the beach and fish the revetment wall to the old pilot station. That should be plenty salty on the big incoming and always produces for me. Try schooling baits like trout rigs and umbrellas. Nothing like having to fight two fish.

Re: Courtesy question

No one owns the channel. Least you were kind enough to ask. Kayaks won scare the fish. Where should you have gone. He was fishing the whole channel there's no good place to pass.

In need of wisdom

I have always done better in the marsh on an incoming tide, and better in the icw and Jettys on the outgoing. Incoming tides always seems to salt up the marsh and in my opinion the addition of fresh zooplankton help start a slow bite. When I was learning to fish salt I started with a 1/8 h&h jig...

Re: '16 Slayer Propel 10' layout

Lifting the prop up isn't hard and takes like 6 seconds. but you have to stick your hand in the water to get the prop through. You can feel the bottom long before you are stuck.

Re: Fish Pass Report, first slime in 5 years in a yak.

Allen, DU is lobbying hard to close the south end and reopen into the bayou. They want the water to freshen up to allow more grass to grow. If I'm not mistaken and the guy I talked to in the tpwd truck out there said they placed the rocks in the canal to prepare for the closure. I hope they don't an...
