Absolutely Depresing
Absolutely Depresing
Have not seen salt in the Sabine in 5 weeks now. Just a shame. Miss the drought.

That chart can be misleading, the north end is fresh but I have been catching plenty of trout the past two weeks via bank and yak fishing.
Re: Absolutely Depresing
salinity chart is correct
smaller trout have been showing up on n & s levee on in coming tides/south wind last week
water is very high so there are no 'lake refresh effect' this week ..
i think i'm going to fish rayburn this week

I was back in the Keith Lake chain yesterday. I never did a taste test. Caught two flounder and a red back there. All good keepers. Lost a small speck at the boat. Water was off-color, but not bad in the grassy back ponds.
May neighbor and his son fished the fish pass Thursday and caught six reds, two big drum, and one speck. One fisherman yesterday had a couple of good specks.
Do they specks really leave or just go to deep channels?

I honestly believe they just go to a deeper channel, which when looking at Sabine Lake, pushes them south towards the Causeway, KL, they get pushed towards fish pass.Piscator wrote:I was back in the Keith Lake chain yesterday. Re: Absolutely Depresing
Two types of specks. Locals and migrants. Locals are smaller and will stick around no matter. The sizable trout 3#+ Move with the temp and salt. They spend summer offshore and winter in the bay's.
