Re: Braided line color
For saltwater, I have not seen any difference in color, but my experience is limited. We went out this past weekend and had everything from clear mono to my blue braid, and some neon yellow mono on. The redfish were hitting everything about equal. I have not used braid much in freshwater, so I can't...

Re: Standing and fishing
As far as chop and swells in the bay, I have no experience. Mine has all been on the lake and river locally. I don't see that much difference in the wind pushing me around any more than the Vibe I also have.

Re: Standing and fishing
For standing I love my Kaku Voodoo. Wide open flat deck and the chair sits up much higher than other kayaks. You can also sit on the back of the chair as well, which is pretty close to standing.

Thanks for the info. I was actually looking at going up river from 864 to Baptism Hole I think. I will definitely have to check some of those out soon though.

Re: San Saba River - Apr 09, 2022
My brother just bought some property out that way and I was looking at some places in that area. Had looked at that launch and one off of FM 864 just outside of Ft. McKavett. Curios if anyone had launched off of 864? I ended up in Junction on the South Llano and had a blast. Water was a little lower...

Re: New Shop in Austin
I can vouch for these guys. They were the only place I could find that had a VIBE Seaghost in stock a while back. Found it on their website and ended up calling. Picked the boat up in Llano at their shop. Great guy to deal with. Glad to see they are still in business and doing well.

Re: Paddling Lure II solo?
I ended up getting a Kaku Voodoo. The open front deck is perfect for the kiddo. Not sure how it would work for a 9 year old, but it is perfect for what I needed.

Paddling Lure II solo?
Anyone have any experience with paddling the Feelfree Lure II solo? I am looking into getting one so my 5 year old has a seat up front, but would also use it solo about 50% of the time. I feel bad that when I take the kiddo, he has to sit on the front area of my Sea Ghost.

Best line for baitcaster
I plan on heading down to the coast with my Vibe next week. Sister lives in La Porte and will be staying with her. I am trying to get a 13 fishing combo by then, but if not will be using my Lews setup. What would be the best line to put on a baitcaster. Looking to do mostly inshore for reds, trout, ...

Re: Changing out rudder pedal types
So my girlfriend decided she did not like her boat and has now taken over my Ride with the sliding rudder controls. She doesn't mind them at all. Now I have a Sea Ghost 130 with toe control for the rudder. Thanks for the info though.

No water release to worry about, however the water was very shallow from what I remember.

Brazos below Whitney?
Anyone know how it is looking? Wondering if they are releasing any water lately. It has been a few years since I have been over there, but remember it was nice and easy when no water was being let out. Looking for an easy scenic paddle to take the kid and lady on this weekend.

Changing out rudder pedal types
I picked up a Wilderness Ride 13.5 with a rudder on it a while back. The rudder controls are the sliding food braces. Is there a way to switch them out for a pedal type so I am able to use the actual braces for what they are designed for?

I have only used the normal spots like Arrowhead, Frank's, and at the bridge on 36. Looking to try Owl Creek next I think.

Re: Paddle length
I was able to sneak over to Austin Canoe and Kayak this afternoon. Handled several different ones while sitting in a boat like mine. Ended up with the best feeling one in my budget being a 250cm Aquabound Manta Ray. Picked that and a couple rod holders up.

Paddle length
I picked up a Predator 13 recently and I am about to get a paddle. Looking to keep it below $200. I am just curious about length. I am 6ft and some charts show me needing a 240cm and some a 260cm. Also wondering about a high or low angle paddle. Most of my time will be spent on lakes like Belton and...

Re: New kayak for myself and son.
First one was a 12ft Heritage from Academy. Second was as Ocean Kayak Trident 13. Main thing I learned was that for a longer trip or more time on the water, the adjustable seat is a must for me.

New kayak for myself and son.
I have had two previous kayaks, but have never put my son on one with me. I am looking for a new yak that I can use solo most of the time, but will also be able to carry my 4 year old with me from time to time. Looking to keep the price at or under $1K. Stability and an adjustable seat are the top c...

Re: Where to fish near Meridian?
Budreaux, Have mostly been trying what has worked for me in the last place I fished, which was a private stocked tank. I am now thinking that those fish would bite pretty much anything. I have been trying plastic worms, rattle traps, x-raps, and also a silver kastmaster spoon. If anyone needs a part...

Re: good starter kayak or not?
I bought the 12 model for myself and the 10 for my wife. I have noticed that she has more trouble with straight line paddling than I do. We are both new to kayaking, so I would have to agree that the 12 tracks better. But if you can only carry a 10, it is still a good one to start out with.

Where to fish near Meridian?
Recently got kayak's for the wife and I. We live in Clifton and are looking for good places to fish and kayak. We have fished at Plowman, Kimbal Bend, and Meridian State parks, but only caught two fish. We love to fish, but don't seem to have much luck. I am not sure if it is where, or how we are fi...

Re: heritage kayaks
I just bought a 10ft and 12ft Heritage Angler from Academy. The 10 is for my wife and the 12 for me. Will be taking them out for the first time on saturday. I went for the 12 due to the extra weight capacity. It is only 25 pounds, but I figure every little bit helps.
