Lake Braunig Tips

Post by WeekendTailChaser »

Hello everyone, I'm new to San Antonio and am in need of some assistance. My wife recently got me the Ascend FS12T and I took it out to Lake Braunig with no luck trying to catch some reds. Anyone have any tips on how to fish that lake or what the hotspots are? I'm sorta clueless out there. Also being new to the area, I'd like to get together with other kayak anglers and fish one day being I don't really know anyone out here.

I used to fish the lake a few years back and I did have a few spots. I'm not sure how they are now but I'm thinking about going tonight around 5pm and tomorrow around the same time. Let me know if you want to go also.

I really wished I could have gone, I didn't see this post till now. Even though I had to work nights. I will be going either the 9th or the 10th. Still unsure of which day.

I've there many times throughout the years but in PB or off the bank.. I've yet to try it in my yak.. I'm a bit worried about the PB traffic. Any issues or tips for those who fish there often in their yaks?

FingerMullet,

I mainly go on the weekdays to avoid boat traffic, they seem to give me a wide berth when I'm out in the open. When going around the jetties, I stay close to the rocks so I don't surprise anyone on the other side. Other than that, I don't really have a problem with boats.

Miguel,

Let me know how you did. We'll have to plan a trip together soon, my mother-in-law is in town right now, so I won't be able to go til Wednesday or Thursday, let me know if you could make it either of those days.

Miguel,

How long do you stay out when you go in the evenings? I still need to get a light on my kayak before I stay out after dark.

Last night we stayed until around 9:00 or so. Didn't catch anything :? but it was still fun. Got some cool sunset footage. My friend didn't have a light, he just stayed closed to me when paddling back to the ramp.
