I plan on a 6:30am or so launch from Wilson's cut area thursday-may have son along (camo green tarpon 160, i will be in yellow commander 120-unless we do a trade-either way I am the older of the two) if anyone is interested. I reserve the right to be a little late:)
He may skip out as he is planning a Surf Shark Fishing attempt with his friends later the same day.
Say hi if U are out.

BAM, my drought is over!

I did catch and release.
My crab trap adventure caught 2 very small crabs and 2 small mullet. The entry point is probably too small. Need a bigger crab trap. Not sure if 3 plus hours is long enough either.

try baiting it with a can of the cheapest, nastiest can of cat food you can find. You can always take some side cutters and open up the entry points a little wider also.

I used chicken guts. my wife saves the skin/liver/heart/etc when she cooks a chicken-i freeze the uncooked parts. Great idea about cutting the entry points (son says this is a perch trap and not a real crab trap). Will get some canned cat food as well-i assume a hill country fair brand will do.RedWolf wrote:try baiting it with a can of the cheapest, nastiest can of cat food you can find.
