Re: Gander Mountain
I went to the Gander in Spring this afternoon, hoping to catch a deal. I found out the scoop from an employee. Thursdays are mark down days. They discount a little every Thursday. Fishing rods will be off 30% tomorrow. Considering they are already a lot higher than anyone else, I'll pass. The Spring...

Re: Anahuac NWR report
I've been to AWR probably 4 times in the last 2-3 weeks. Monday, I watched 2 employees (volunteers?) Pick up about 4 big bags of garbage around the boat ramp. And there are big blue garbage cans within casting distance of where they picked it up. It really hacks me off to see that. Got a good thing ...

Re: Little Pasture Bayou
Little pasture is a special place. Been fishing it most of my life. Doesn't look like much from the opening, but it opens up, gets deep and goes way back to the spoil bank. The undercut banks hold all kinds of fish waiting to pounce on unsuspecting bait. There are some 10-12' deep places in that bay...

Diversion, I enjoyed your story and pics. Something looked strange, but took me a second to figure it out. I was at Seawolf yesterday and took the same pic as you. I am having trouble loading it. Bear with me.

Re: wierdest item ever snagged thread
Fishing rollover pass, I hung one of those metal newspaper stands that used to be popular in front of stores back in the day. I had a house down in Gilchrist on a canal. Caught a big hardhead and just left him on my line for a bit since I was doing something else. Came back to take him off, and thou...

You launch at Little Joe's or Strange's right now, by the time you got turned around, you'd be up against the McKay bridge. Maybe a pond would be a better choice till the water drops.

Re: My pup tasted a plastic worm
Power boats are allowed on Lake Woodlands, they are just not allowed to run their outboards. Noticed several pontoon boats behind some of the houses, but never seen one on the water when I fished there. Have found some huge crappie in the backs of sloughs there. Most points have Christmas trees sunk...

Re: Using Sweet Corn And Ultra Light Gear For Carp
When I was knee high to a grasshopper, there was a pond near my house that was full of carp..They were a lot of fun to catch and keep you busy on an otherwise slow day. I used raisin bran, but the raisins were for me and squeezed the balls of cereal in my hand with big red soda. The carp loved em.

White bass fishing on upper Trinity River
Looking to get into some white bass fishing this year. Been looking at some videos online of people killin 'em at Lock 'n dam last season. Long way for an old retired fart to drive on speculation. If anyone gets any whiff of white bass movement, please drop me a line here. I'm thinking the water is ...

Get on 1960 and venture across McKay Bridge towards Huffman. Take a left on FM2100. Several miles, then a left on Wolf/Huffman-Cleveland Rd. Another mile or so and you will come to Luce Bayou. I used to have a house down there on the bank. Bait camps on both sides of the bridge, though I'm not sure ...

Re: move over jeremy wade
I've fished for sheepshead a time or two. Another little tip I picked up was carry you a piece of stick and if you are on the jettys, scrape that stick along the rocks below the water line, knocking off a bunch of barnacles. It's like putting out corn at the deer lease. Sheepshead love appetizers. lol

Re: Help with white bass fishing please
Trinity River below the Lake Livingston dam is some excellent white bass fishing about now. Closer to my home, my son has been catching some in Cypress creek here in Spring/Humble. The white bass come up from Lake Houston to spawn. Not too familiar with your side of town.

Cypress Creek white bass and crappie
I live within a stone's throw of cypress creek here in Spring. My son has been fishing the last couple of days in search of white bass. A lot of smaller fish, but he has been getting 10-12 legal fish a day. During his trips, he has been picking up 2-3 crappie per day as well. I expected to find eggs...

how about making 2 "L" shaped brackets made out of 2" square steel like the bed extenders are made of. Go down to pins in 2 vehicles... back them up to each other within about 10'. insert the "L" brackets in each receiver hitch. voila! 2 trees! Heck you can buy those bed ext...

if you don't want to go the leather route, go to youtube and search for kydex knife sheath. That should keep you busy for a couple of hours. Not sure if you can engrave or emboss kydex, but if youre going to get it wet, might be the way to go. you can buy kydex from amazon for only a dollar or so a ...
